"Trash or Treasure?"
The Upcycling Net at our school
In the last two years our school organizes a series of actions aimed at raising awareness of the school community towards important environmental issues and at the same time participates in approved programs that pursue relevant goals. In this context, the Erasmus+ program entitled "I change! Therefore I am." which concludes this year. Through our intense activity in the field of environmental protection, we aim to cultivate ecological consciousness in the student community and to reduce overconsumption and our ecological footprint. Through our actions we also create opportunities for cooperation for all children and give them the opportunity to explore the possibilities offered by modern technology in this direction.
One of our most important actions is the creation and continuous operation of an Upcycling Network within the school community. Our school's Upcycling Network is called "Trash or Treasure?" and has been operating since December 2022! The items offered in and by our network are all kinds of small items (in good condition) such as books, school supplies, jewelry, decorations, toys, board games and much more.
Interested parties can send a photo of the items they want to "withdraw" and make available to the Network in upcycling62gymnasio@gmail.com mail, with their name. The offer is uploaded to the Network's digital bulletin board (https://padlet.com/upcycling62gymnasio/izoyfz1ycs5jztu6) anonymously. In the same way, with a message in upcycling62gymnasio@gmail.com mail, with the name of the interested party, objects can be requested from the network.
For the easy use of our Network we have created our own application (app) made especially for its needs!
Through the app you can photograph the object you want to offer and send it directly to the Network's mail, as well as connect to the padlet where you can see directly the available items!
