Upcycling and Art

Artistic and creative approach through Upcycling techniques helps our students to utilize materials they would otherwise consider "trash" in an entertaining way. During our meetings we reinforce the idea of successful, productive collective actions. The final products of their work are decorating the common areas of our school.

The first activity took place during the visit of the Spanish delegation in Athens, in May 2022. We held a workshop to create together, in groups, small compositions (mosaics) from plastic caps.

During the visit of the Italian delegation in October, we followed the same technique, but on a large scale.

The project that started during this visit was then completed by the Erasmus Visual Arts group, which was formed and is active during the current school year (2022-2023).

Our next action was the final development of the e-twinning "Teaching Corridors", a partnership of the three countries that started in the spring of 2022. The results of the students' research around important figures originating from Spain, Italy and Greece were transferred to a central corridor of out school, in the form of a wall collage (pasting).  We used old encyclopedias and common photocopy paper to present these personalities, in chronological order.

The next phase of this project, was linking it to our project's goal of developing students' digital skills.  The team members created QR codes, which lead to links to the biographies of the personalities of the collage.
