I.C.S. Vittorio Emanuele III is a public school located in Palermo Italy. It has about 1,200 students and 120 teachers at three different levels
(preschool, primary and lower secondary). It has computer labs, science, gym and sports fields. The classrooms have blackboards
interactive and Internet connection, which allows teachers to support learning with ICT. Some school students attend
music classes (piano, violin, accordion and saxophone). Our school has a great musical, with a choir, a percussion group and a group of
body percussion, frequently awarded with national and international prizes. The school curriculum is taught in Italian, but English is
study in all classes. In lower secondary school, all students study a second foreign language (French or
Spanish). We promote tolerance, respect, anti-bullying and inclusion, and we have activated inclusion projects, where students with
special needs work cooperatively with their peers. Our students have participated in competitions in Italian, art,
mathematics, science and sports and have been awarded several prizes.
We try to make our school more international and strengthen its European dimension. We are aware of the importance of gaining experience
international through eTwinning and Erasmus + projects, so Europe enters our classrooms and our students feel like citizens
Europeans. We have been working with eTwinning projects since 2010 and have been awarded national and European quality labels and
with the eTwinning school label.
In the curriculum we have an educational route called "I am a European citizen" and with the aim of developing European belonging.
Thanks to this, students learn the idea that participation measures the democracy of a society, educates respect, dialogue and
responsibility.

Education on active citizenship is part of our curriculum and our school promotes events and meetings with experts in order to
objective of spreading the sense of the culture of human respect. Meeting partners from other European countries will help our students to overcome
cultural barriers and prejudices that still radiate in people living in southern Europe and to perceive Europe as a place where
they can create their future and prepare for the future European labor market.
The project will be carried out by the English teacher and coordinator of European projects and the special needs teacher. With them
Teachers of different subjects will participate. There are a large number of students with special needs at our school. The students
they learn in cooperation with their peers and work on different inclusion projects. We plan active citizenship projects for
create active and responsible European citizens.
